Robert Palmer

English singer/songwriter born in 1949. He was known for combining several genres such as soul, jazz, rock, pop, reggae, and blues. He died of a heart attack at age 54.
Released in 1973 it was Palmer’s first Top 40 Hit in the US. It has been covered many times by artists such as Mint Julep, Amy Grant and Joe Cocker.

Plot Synopsis

In the late 1940s, an American prizefighter who has retired, moves back to the land of his birth, Ireland. He relocates to the small village in which he was born and attempts to settle into his new way of life and learn how his customs differ from those of the natives.

Fun Facts

In the clip Maureen O’Hara goes to slap John Wayne but he blocks the slap with his hand. In actuality, O’Hara broke her wrist during the filming but continued and finished the scene.
The cast of the film includes the elder brother of the director and his son-in-law, two of John Wayne’s sons and two of his daughters, two of Maureen O’Hara’s brothers and Barry Fitzgerald’s brother.

Synopsis

Corner Gas is a Canadian comedy show. It was created by Brent Butt who also starred in it. It was filmed in Saskatchewan and ran for six seasons from 2004 to 2009. It still plays in reruns on the Comedy Channel.
The cast reunited for a movie which was released in 2014. The producers created an animated version which debuted on the Comedy Channel in 2016. The entire cast reprise their original roles with the exception of Janet Wright as Emma Leroy. Wright passed away in 2016.
